Description

Audience: Basic Skills Instructors, Case managers, and Counselors

According to Comings’, Parella’s, and Soricone’s NCSALL study on student persistence, the second most important factor that helps students stay in programs is their sense of self-efficacy. The question is: How do we help students develop their sense of self-efficacy? In this workshop, participants will: a.) learn about various tools designed to assess students’ sense of self-efficacy before and after participation in a program, b.) review resources and tips to develop students’ self-efficacy, and c) strategize to utilize these tools, tips, and resources to inform program and case management planning, and provide services that are custom-tailored to address students’ needs.
